Lego Batman Movie Review!

Hey guys! Juli here! 🙂 Welcome back to a new post on Kidz Universe! If you’re new here, welcome to Kidz Universe! We post movie and book reviews, DIY tutorials and crafts, math tutorials, stories, and much more! But today, as you can tell from the title of this post, I will be reviewing the LEGO Batman movie!

This movie came out on February 10, so I’m a little late. But better late than never! Anyway, here are some facts about the movie. Chris McKay (the editor of the LEGO Movie) is the director of this action-packed family film. Will Arnett (who also played Batman in the LEGO Movie) stars as Batman again in this film. Also, this movie is 100% digital! That means they DID NOT use actual LEGOs to make this film. Click here for more facts about the movie!

This movie was quite funny. Not the funniest of all movies, but it got some laughs from my and my family. It had a nice message, and a plot that young children could follow and understand. The action scenes weren’t too bad for younger viewers, it being a children’s movie. There were also some cameos from other superheroes/villains, which I enjoyed! If you’re looking for something serious and realistic plot, then maybe this movie isn’t for you. It’s a very goofy and unrealistic movie. But if goofy is what you’re looking for, then this movie is for you!

I’ll give this movie a 4 star rating, because it was funny, but I like the LEGO Movie better. I feel like the LEGO Movie had a more powerful message, but was funny at the same time. 🙂

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Movie Review!

Hey guys! Mystic here and welcome back to another post on Kidz Universe! Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve last posted! So let’s start off with an introduction for those who are new to this blog. My name is Julianna (MysticSkiezz is my username) and I am 10 years old. On this blog I write posts about DIYs, stories, book and movie reviews, game reviews. and more! I try and post as often as I can, but sometimes activities I do, and school, keep me busy. So let’s move on to the point of this article.

On Friday, November 18, a movie called Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them came out! It is part of the Harry Potter series (which is my favorite book series, by the way). It is one of 5 new movies that will be released by J.K Rowling. Fantastic Beats is a prequel to the whole Harry Potter series. That means that the events in the movie took place before the events in the Harry Potter series did. But this movie isn’t about Harry Potter. It’s about a whole new character that isn’t mentioned much in the Harry Potter series: a man named Newt Scammander.

You really need to watch or read the Harry Potter series before you can understand this movie. However, it is still a great movie. Newt Scammander is a wizard. He has a wand, and can perform spells. He also has a magical suitcase full of magical creatures, that are quite different from normal animals. The problem of the story is that these magical creatures escape Newt’s suitcase, and with the help of his new friends, he has to go out and find them. The setting is in 1926, in New York, unlike the Harry Potter series, which takes place in England.

How I would rate this movie? 4 out of 5 because there are some parts I didn’t understand, or are hard to follow. But otherwise, it’s a fantastic movie and I suggest you go watch it over the Thanksgiving break. It’s rated PG-13, there are some parts that may be scary to young children. But my 6 year old sister watched it without a problem, although she probably didn’t understand what was going on. Like I said before, there are some parts that may be confusing if you haven’t read the Harry Potter series. if you have any questions about the movie, comment them below, But just be sure to put “SPOILER ALERT!” in case it’s something that gives away a big part of the movie.

Making A Popsicle Stick Bridge!

Popsicle Stick Bridge

Hello, everyone, and welcome to another post on Kidz Universe! Today I’m going to be sharing with you a project I made for school, titled the Popsicle Stick bridge! The assignment was to make a bridge made out of popsicle sticks, and we would later test which bridge was the strongest and could hold 18 pounds. So I’ll be sharing with you some tips on how to make your own popsicle stick bridge, so you can try and recreate this assignment. I hope you enjoy!

Tips for Making Your Own Popsicle Stick Bridge:

  1. Make sure there are plenty of triangles in your structure!                                                    hqdefault                                        Triangles are the most stable shape for making braces, or support, so be sure you have a lot of those in your structure.
  2. Have a lot of support everywhere!                                                                                                localnews21_b Look at the picture above. That bridge sure has a lot of support! No wonder it was able to hold 87 pounds before collapsing. It is important that you’re bridge has a lot of support. You can see my bridge has support on the sides, and I also have some support on the bottom of the bridge too, although it can’t be seen.

Make sure everything is glued together properly!                                                                   bridge_0

One loose popsicle stick could be the end of your beloved bridge you had been working so hard on! So be sure that all your popsicle sticks are glued together properly, and your bridge has had time to dry. or else your bridge could turn out like the bridge in the picture above.

“A Cricket in Times Square” Review

“A Cricket in Times Square” Book Review

Hey guys! It’s twinklet05 here bringing you another book review! This time, it’s going to be on the book “A Cricket in Times Square” by George Selden and it was illustrated by Garth Williams. A Cricket in Times Square has received a lot of praise already. Did you know that in 1961, it won the Newberry Honor? Yep, that’s how good it is. A Cricket in Times Square has also gotten a 4/5 from Goodreads and a 4.7/5 from Amazon. In this quick little book review, I will just be telling  you guys what the book is generally about, and my thoughts while reading it. So let’s dive right into it, and get started!

Basically this book is about a cricket named Chester who accidentally finds himself in New York City, Manhattan to be specific. Chester is found by Mario, the boy who runs the newspaper stand, and with his amazing talent, he helped out the Bellini family business a whole lot, meeting some friends along the way. For me, this book was an amazing story to read. It was very inspiring and touching, too. I am a quick reader, so it took me one to two days to finish this book. I can relate to Mario, when he finds Chester and asks his parents if he could keep it. It was very fun and exciting to read about Chester and his friends, and what they’d might do next. The ending was very shocking for me, and a little sad too. I’m not giving away any spoilers, but prepare to be surprised! If I were to rate this book, I’d give it a 4 out of 5 because I didn’t really like the ending. In the comments below, tell me what you think! Have you read this book before? What rating would you give it and why? Thanks everyone and keep on the lookout for new posts on Kidz Universe!

(Note: I have a new posting schedule! I will be posting every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday! So be sure to check out Kidz Universe on those dates, to see more book reviews, DIYs, math tutorials, and more!)

A Mermaid’s Tail

“Ahh!” Screamed Melanie. Then it hit her. She slowly started to get dizzy but then used her mermaid magic to fix herself. “I am so sorry” said Mackenzie. “Its okay” said Melanie. ” Did I say everybody has mermaid magic? I meant only the people who have these necklaces have mermaid magic.” Said Melanie. “Ohhhh cool!” Then Melanie thought Mackenzie some cool spells that could protect her from danger, attack, and give her anything she wants! Suddenly the sun was setting and Mackenzie went back to shore and turned human again. Then once she started walking to her house, her vision became blurry. She then woke up and realized it was all a dream. She was sad . But then she looked at her neck and she still had her necklace. Mackenzie smiled and went to the beach to go see Melanie again.

Life Hacks

Hey guys! Its twinkle1120 here! Today I will be telling you guys some life hacks! Some are shocking, and some are unbelievable! So lets get into it.

  • Thirsty? Every resturant in the U.S is required to give free tap water. Just ask for it!
  • Brain Freeze? Just lick the roof of your tounge ( heating it up ) and it will stop the pain.
  •   When your in pandora and an ad comes up just open siri and it will stop the ad and you can continue listening to your music.
  • Sleeping on your right side will help you fall asleep easier than sleeping on your left side.

A Mermaid’s Tail

The next day Mackenzie woke up bright and early. She made herself some breakfast. She then changed into her bathing suit and fixed her hair. She grabbed her phone and layed on her bed. She checked her social media twice and then headed down to the beach. She dove into the water where nobody could see her. She then touched her necklace and transformed into a mermaid. She swam as fast as she could to Melanie because she didn’t want to be late. Then she saw Melanie. “Oh hey!” Said Mackenzie. “Hey!” Said Melanie. “Did I tell you yesterday about mermaid magic?” Mackenzie shook her head. Well every mermaid has mermaid magic aka magic powers. “Cool! Do I have any?” Said Mackenzie. Melanie nodded. Mackenzie got so excited she accidentally casted a spell by accident that hit Melanie!

Zootopia Movie Review

Hey guys! It’s Twinklet05 here, bringing you another review. This time, it’s on the children’s movie “Zootopia”. Basically, the main character of the movie,  Lt. Judy Hopps, has a dream to become a police officer and change the world. The place to go is “Zootopia”, which is known as the place where anyone can be anything they want. After graduating at the top of her class in the ZPD Academy, she becomes the first bunny police officer in the ZPD. She meets a fox named Nick Wilde who later helps her solve the case she is given 48 hours to solve. Zootopia is thrilling and funny, and a great movie for children to watch. There isn’t much violence in it, although some parts have loud, growling noises, so those parts may be a little scary for really young children. I think that actors Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman did a really impressive job portraying Lt. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. If you haven’t already seen this movie, you should go check it out! I give it a 5 star rating!
